Malaysian artist Hong Yi, aka Red, created this unique portrait of Taiwanese pop star, Jay Chou. Inspired by Chou’s lyrics (the opening line is about lifting a coffee cup off the saucer), Red used hundreds of individual coffee stain rings to tell her story. She noted what a difficult medium coffee was to use, “Too little water and the rings wouldn’t form easily, too much water and the rings would blend into each other, resulting in just a deformed pool of coffee.

We're really into this bold typography by self-taught Graphic Designer, Ben Johnston. The 24 year old converted wine barrel lids into wall hanging cheeseboards, engraving popular quips into the wood with a laser. A solid round of applause to from us to you, Sir.

Love Locks are a recent tradition in Europe that has us weak in the knees. Starting in the early 2000s, lovers secure a padlock to a public structure to symbolize their everlasting love. Bridges are popular sites, as the keys are tossed into the water, sealing their emotional bond to a physical place.

Photographer Chris Eayers documented the romantic phenomenon, capturing every love lock on the Millennium Bridge in London on July 22, 2011.

Film maker and animator Jonathan Chong (aka Dropbear) created a stop-motion music video for “Against the Grain” by Australian indie-folk band Hudson. Chong worked alone, arranging all the colored pencils himself while capturing the individual frames. As you’ll see in the time-lapse, there was no room for error while setting up and very meticulously moving the pencils. A single mistake, and he had to start all over again.

It took 5 A’Shop artists, 16 days, and 500 cans of paint to create this gigantic graffitied Mother Nature-esque Madonna. The 5 story, Alphonse Mucha inspired mural makes for a stunning stand out among the buildings of Montreal.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. London based artist Nick Gentry revitalizes outdated media formats with his paintings. Using floppy discs, VHS tapes, polaroids, and cassette tapes as his canvas, Nick’s art comments on waste cultures, life cycles, and identity. His portraits have a spirit of their own, with stories trapped within the canvas.

Talk about nostalgia. It’s hard not to get a little misty while looking at these images. We all have those places that take us back to a specific moment in time. A swing, a couch, a parking lot, the house we grew up in. Dear Photograph proves there is something special about witnessing a stranger’s experience through pictures. The common thread being the emotion that comes along with physical evidence that we lived, danced, played in a world that is ever changing. Come on, all together now, “Awwwwwwww.”

Wow. Can we talk about this for a minute? Not to get too deep, but what a moving piece of film. "All the Real Girls" was written by, David Gordon Green and the film’s star, Paul Schneider. It debuted at Sundance back in January of 2003, and featured a young Zooey Deschanel. We should also note, the soundtrack was performed by turn of the century post-rock favorite, Explosions in the Sky. As if it couldn't get any cooler.
